Bohol recipient of Php150-M Kalahi-CIDSS aid

CARMEN, Bohol – The province of Bohol is a recipient of Kapit-Bisig laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), a project of the DSWD and supported by Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) with $120 million grant supervised by Millenium Challenge Account-Philippines.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that Bohol is granted a total of Php150,086,689.47, funding projects of access/mobility totaling 111; education, 58; health and nutrition, 30; water supply, 16; agriculture, 12; and power supply, 6.

The project covered 81,963 of 12 municipalities; 293 barangays, DSWD said. The number of funded sub-projects totaled 233; and 238 barangays.

A total of 52,027 out of the total 242,307 households in Bohol are benefited and 6,873 empowered volunteers of the said project. Forty-three percent of the volunteers are female of the toal of 5,209 workers.

“Though all sub-projects were completed in March 2013, the province received assistance from MCC when 40 sub-projects from Carmen, Danao and Buneavista were damaged during the October 15, 2013 earthquake,” DSWD said.

The province is one of the beneficiaries in Central Visayas of the grant in the amount of Php488,086,689.47 for the similar projects such as education, health, agriculture power supply and access/monility.

US ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg said that the province has exceeded its targets that prompted him to commend the efforts and spirit of “bayanihan” of the beneficiary-barnagays and townsfolk. The nvoy was here to see for himself the completed one school building which he inaugurated last Friday.

This town is a recipient of a total of Php 19,454,459.28 with kalahi grant of Php13,049,999 and local counterpart of Php6,404,450.29, DSWD data showed.

There were 22 total funded projects in this town with a total of 5441 households served and 1,2284 Pantawid beneficiaries. Through these projects, barangay folks totaling 1,430 were employed, it said.

A total of 15 barangay roads built; health staions, two; school building, two; solar dryer, one; box culvert, one and water system level II, one. This town has a total of 8,901 households. ###
